Balwearie High School

Uniform Standard

We all take pride in the appearance of our school and its pupils. The school uniform does much to enhance the ethos within the school and we hope that parents/carers will support the school by encouraging the wearing of the recommended uniform that clearly identifies them as a Balwearie High School pupil. More importantly, however, we hope that our pupils will be proud to be identified with Balwearie High School by wearing the following clothing:

  • Black trousers, shorts or skirt (as plain as possible please)
  • Balwearie logo, quarter zip top
  • White self-coloured shirt or polo shirt
  • Predominantly black footwear appropriate for school
  • Black jumper or cardigan (non-hooded) which allows the tie to be visible
  • Blazers welcomed but not essential
  • Outer jacket which will be removed in classes

Pupils carry books and equipment from class to class. It is therefore recommended that they have robust school bags to protect jotters and folders, etc, The school holds information on bags promoted by the National Back Pain Association - please don't hesitate to contact us if you'd like further information on this.

For indoor work, pupils should wear a plain T-shirt or top or football top, shorts and training shoes. (The shoes should be different from the ones they come to school in and the soles should be non-marking).

Tracksuit trousers or leggings can be worn for outdoor activities along with a sweatshirt, jumper or top. Trainers are suitable for all outdoor activities, including the astroturf pitch.

For swimming, pupils require trunks or a one-piece swimming costume and a towel. A swimming cap or goggles may be worn if required.

All clothes should have the owner's name clearly marked on them. Pupils are responsible for the safe custody of their own kit. Pupils' valuables will be collected at the beginning of each PE lesson. If a pupil omits to hand over valuables and they go missing, then the school may not be held responsible for the loss.

Parents in receipt of income support may be entitled to monetary grants for footwear and clothing. Information and application forms may be obtained from the Area Office at The Town House, Kirkcaldy.
