International Trade Summer School

On Tuesday 5 Advanced Higher Pupils took part in the International Trade Summer School in Edinburgh.

In order to be able to participate we had to complete an application form for the programme - we were lucky enough to gain one of the 7 spaces available for all Scottish schools.

Andy Finnie, Jack Farley, Megan Hall, Emma Hand and Holly Wilson accompanied me to the National Museum of Scotland where they had to take part in 2 challenges - The Commodity Exchange Challenge and an Export Strategy Challenge. They had to use their knowledge from business and from the speakers that had spoken at the Event to complete these and then present their final findings/ideas to a panel of judges that included CEO of Faraday, Vice Principal of Edinburgh University and Lord Duncan of Springbank.

The Team produced an outstanding presentation and won the competition!!! They are now being flown to London for a winners day where they will be representing Scotland and showcasing their ideas and presentation in front of the Secretary of State for International Development and the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. They will also be given the opportunity to network with the Department of International Trade and explore the different routes into a career in the civil service.
